Testimony of Lata Halder
I am Lata Halder, from the village of Vedgram, Gopalganj. I was born in a Catholic family and later married into a Baptist family. Our marriage is now 15 years strong, and we have three children, two boys and one girl.
Reflecting on our Christian life, both past and present, I have been deeply rooted in my Catholic beliefs, which initially made it difficult to accept my husband’s Baptist practices. This led to numerous disagreements between us during the first year of our marriage, a conflict that has persisted over the last 15 years. During this time, we had two children. Our eldest son is 15 and our daughter is 12. They have often witnessed our arguments, which has affected their respect for us.
Last year, when I became pregnant again, I invited my sister Jessica, who is also from our Catholic family, to assist me during this time. She stayed with us until my delivery. Throughout this period, my husband did not support me, so Jessica helped care for our children and me.
While staying with me, Jessica introduced me to FDM.world and its various activities. I became eager to learn more about their programs like Forgiveness & Reconciliation (F&R), DVS, CFT, MIAM, and PIAM. Motivated by Jessica’s teachings, I wanted to receive training from her. She agreed, and I invited our neighbors, who are from a Baptist background and included 16 married women experiencing similar challenges in their family lives. During my pregnancy, Jessica conducted a four-day class on DVS and Forgiveness & Reconciliation in my home for these women. They also showed interest in learning more about MIAM & PIAM. However, Jessica focused on elaborating DVS, which was a revelation for our personal family lives.
After completing the session, I tried to share these new insights with my husband, but he was firmly entrenched in his Baptist views and initially dismissed my efforts. I discussed this challenge with Jessica, who advised me to persist with Forgiveness & Reconciliation strategies. Realizing the need for a different approach, Jessica later asked Peter to meet with my husband, Duke, to discuss adopting these new discipleship strategies. Peter spent time with Duke, and by God’s grace, my husband began to open up to these new ideas.
Together, we prayed for God’s grace and strength to repent and seek forgiveness from Him and each other.
Duke admitted that he had never before listened to anyone, not even at church or to his parents, because he was so set in his ways. But now, he has come to understand the essence of Godly love and its impact on our family life. We recognized our mistakes through the lessons of DVS and F&R and admitted to each other our faults in handling our Christian family life.
Now, we are a joyful Christian family, blessed with another son who is one year old. Our neighbors look to us as an example and are working to build healthier Christian family dynamics in our community. Occasionally, other husbands consult Duke for advice on achieving similar transformations in their families.
We are proud to endorse FDM.world’s free teaching materials—audio, video, and PDF workbooks (DVS, CFT, MIAM, & PIAM)—as excellent resources for growing in true Christian life, akin to Jesus’ disciples, as outlined in Matthew 28:19-20.
